Magnelis® coating — protection against rust

We make the gutters from S250GD steel with a ZM310 coating, i.e. Magnelis®: 310 g/m² of zinc alloy with 3.5% aluminium and 3% magnesium. According to the steel producer, ArcelorMittal, the coating protects cut edges on its own — the corrosion products seal the exposed steel.

A review by the Steel Construction Institute, commissioned by ArcelorMittal, concludes that Magnelis® protects against corrosion better than comparable hot-dip galvanised coatings. For gutters in a humid tunnel, carrying water and nutrient solution, that matters throughout their service life.

What they are for

Strawberries in pots
A 13, 16 or 20 cm gutter, chosen to match the diameter of the pots standing in the row.
Strawberries on coir slabs
The slab lies in the gutter, and the gutter drains away excess water.
Working height
Gutters on posts lift the plants off the ground — picking without bending, and a crop that does not depend on the soil.

Gutters and tunnel from one manufacturer

We match the gutters to the tunnel and the row spacing during a field visit and deliver them together with the structure.

Frequently asked questions

What widths of growing gutters do you make?

13, 16 and 20 cm — for pots or coir slabs.

What steel are the gutters made of?

S250GD steel with a ZM310 zinc-magnesium coating (Magnelis®), sheet thickness 0.6 mm.

How far apart are the posts under the gutters?

Every 3 m. We make the posts in a Ø40×1.5 mm version or a heavy-duty Ø50.8 mm version.

Are the gutter hooks adjustable or fixed?

We make both: adjustable or fixed hooks, chosen to suit the grower's preference and the strawberry variety.

Do you supply the gutters together with the tunnel?

Yes. We match the gutters to the tunnel and the row spacing during a field visit and deliver them together with the structure.

How much do growing gutters cost?

We quote them individually — depending on the row length, the gutter width and the post version. Give us a call or describe your field in the configurator.
